If you’re hankering to be riding the very latest mobile software from Apple, hit up your iTunes, for version 4.3.2 of iOS is now available for downloadin’ and updatin’. Fixes for occasional “blank or frozen” FaceTime video and iPad 3G issues get top billing, while the obligatory security updates fill out the rest. The size of this mighty software drop? A hefty 666.2MB.

Update: Well, someone’s skipping class today. A tethered jailbreak is already in the wilds, if you dare. Thanks, Jeff!

Update 2: Looks like Verizon customers are getting a slightly different update of their own: iOS 4.2.7. It promises only “bug fixes and security updates.”

PICTURE the scene. You’re on board the world’s biggest cruise ship, being transported in the lap of luxury to some of the world’s most glamorous locations. What more could you possibly want?

Local company 3Squared think they have the answer. The Sheffield-based software developers have been awarded a contract to develop a new Apple iPad application for the brand new cruise ship, currently being built by Royal Caribbean.

The innovative software application will allow guests on board the ship to browse information on the ship’s many restaurants, and order food, wine and other items without ever leaving the comfort of their sun lounger.

“We’re thrilled to be involved in such an exciting project,” said Tim Jones, a director at 3Squared.

“We’ve been working closely with Royal Caribbean in the US to make sure this application is every bit as amazing as the ship itself.”

The luxury cruise ship ‘Allure of the Seas’ sets sail from Miami for the first time this December.

“Allure of the Seas will offer guests a new set of onboard amenities and entertainment and dining options that will help make a most memorable vacation,” said Lisa Bauer, senior vice president, Hotel Operations, Royal Caribbean International.

—ENDS—

iPhone 4G new extraordinary feature-Retina Display: The iPhone 4 Retina display uses technology called IPS (in-plane switching) to achieve a wider viewing angle than on typical LCDs. Which means you can hold iPhone 4 almost any way you want and still get a brilliant picture. This is perfect when sharing photos with a friend or moving iPhone around while playing or flying game. In addition, the Retina display offers four times the contrast ratio of previous models, so whites are brighter, blacks are darker and everything is more beautiful.

The iPhone4 screen is 940by640 pixel resolution, four times as many pixels as the previous version, giving the new iPhone a density of 326 pixels per inch, more than what the human retina can see (max visible pixelation is 300 pixels), thus making the iPhone4 display look much more smoother and crisp.

The use of an A4 chip here puts Apple on par with the speeds of the latest Android phones. While Apple seems to be quickly catching up with Android features, it’s OS and mega app store at its disposal could currently be the edge.

Here at Squareware we’ve already been asked by clients to develop iPad applications for the UK launch of the new iPad.

Apple have now said the launch of the iPad will be delayed until May 2010 due to the recent demand in the US, which is a blow to the UK Apple fans who are looking forward to getting their hands on the tablet device.

We’re still working hard on client applications for both the commercial and education markets ready for the launch. As the iPad is so versatile there are many cool applications which we can develop and simply connect to existing customer databases to save money on re-writing schemas.

If you’re looking to expand your products or services on to the iPad platform we can certainly quote on integrating your systems, or if you’re looking for an iPad game or software application, get in touch and we can quote!

Call Squareware today 0800 917 3517 or email info@3squared.co.uk – We are UK based iPad developers, all development work is done in-house to make sure our quality applications stay that way.
